A SHORT HISTORY
INK is a magazine created entirely by students. Founded in 2012 by Mrs. McColl, the magazine aims to provide a range of content, from politics and economics, to culture and creative. We even work on multimedia projects such as teacher and student interviews.
INK offers a wide range of opportunities, ranging from journalism and feature writing, to graphic design and video editing. The magazine is open for any student who wishes to contribute, and we hold a meeting with editors and the behind-the-scenes technical team every Wednesday.
Our short history...
INK started in late 2012 as a PDF magazine containing 20 original student-written articles. In early 2013, the INK Students website launched, making the magazine more accessible and easier to navigate than before, as well as opening up the magazine for a wider range of content such as the Teacher Interview videos. We also offered a means for students to promote their own blogs and websites.
In 2013, INK won 3 awards at the Shine School Media Awards, including 'Best Editorial' and 'Best Design and Layout'.
In November 2013 we produced a series of 'Room 101' videos where we ask teachers about their pet hates, and following the release of the online Issue 4, we published the second Print Edition of INK. The Print Editions of INK have been read more than 10,000 times online alone.
In response to feedback from the Shine School Media Awards in 2014, we completely redesigned our site, and are preparing to launch the third issue of INK: Print Edition in April 2015.
